FRIDAY, May 19, 2017 -- Eating lots of fruits and vegetables doesn't only boost your health, it can cut your risk of packing on extra pounds by almost half, researchers report.
"Our study suggests that plant-based diets are associated with substantially lower risk of developing obesity. This supports current recommendations to shift to diets rich in plant foods, with lower intake of animal foods," wrote the authors from the University of Navarra and the Carlos III Institute of Health, both in Spain.
MONDAY, May 1, 2017 -- As much as you might hate the daily restrictions of a conventional diet, a new study shows that fasting one day and eating what you want the next may not be a better way to lose weight.
After one year, researchers found that weight loss on either type of diet was about the same -- 6 percent for those on the alternate-day fasting diet and a little over 5 percent for those on the daily restricted-calorie diet.
